Botulinum toxin is a prescription only drug and medical practitioners can prescribe it. So getting training in botox courses give them an edge over others as they can also administer it in addition to prescribing.
Presently, there are a large number of aesthetic training institutes which has made it difficult to identify a good institute. They offer training in basic as well as advanced botox courses along with other aesthetic training courses. To make this easy for you to identify the right institute for botox training, follow these guidelines.
1. Avoid enrolling in very short courses which last a single day or a two. Although these crash courses teach the basic techniques of injecting botulinum toxin, they do not come up to the latest HEE guidelines which clearly state that these very short aesthetic courses do not meet the APL/RPL requirements. By 2018 when the aesthetic regulations will take full effect such short botox courses will not be considered as a professional training.
2. Do not enrol in a course that does not focus on the hands-on practice. It is the most important aspect of the professional botox training course. Ask the aesthetic institute for the course outline before enrolment and carefully view its components. In addition to theory, botox courses should provide ample hands-on training under the supervision of expert mentors to gain practical experience of injecting botox and injection techniques.
3. Check the qualifications, experience and status of the trainers who are conducting the course. Ensure that you enrol in botox courses that are conducted by professional, qualified, trained and experienced teachers who have complete expertise over various techniques of injecting botulinum toxin and are able to offer the right guidance to the trainees.
4. Enrol in the course which has a limited number of trainees in each class. Maximum number f 3-5 trainees in a course are sufficient and you will be able to get individual attention of the trainer during a course.
5. Check out the premises where the course will take place. It should be equipped with all the required equipment and products that are required to safely conduct the botox treatment as their will be real models on whom the injections would be conducted to show the techniques to the trainees. So a professional clinical environment is essential for the botox courses.
If an aesthetic training institute has all these elements present, then it is safe to enrol in the aesthetic course.
